Hello!

Post by Cego »

Most of you already know me from other Amiga forums. I have bought Aquabyss on Amiga37 and I have already installed it on my Vampire1200 machine. As I can't see any previous topics in this forum, I wanted to open up a new thread and report my first experiences.

So far the games seems to work on Vampire 1200, even though @AgedCode said that one betatester reported issues specifically regarding Vampire 1200. It would be nice if the person in question could reply do this thread and name the issues, so I can check on them.

Installation was kinda tricky, as the installer just didn't want to work when started from my fully configured RTG OS3.2.1 system. It ended in a black screen. I had to install a base OS 3.2.1 running in native PAL mode with only network to get the installer to work.

So far this is all I can say. I will look into it again, when I'm back from my trip to Berlin and Oldenburg.

Thanks again to AgedCode and marmacc for their great support and kind welcoming at their stand on Amiga37. Kudos also go to aPEX who pushed me (softly) to buy a copy :)
Hopefully when the winter days are getting closer I will spend even more time playing it!

Hi Cego!
Thank you for your purchase and your kind words, we were truly delighted with the enthusiastic reaction of all the visitors. It motivates us to further work!

OS 3.2.1
There's definitely a conflict with the AutoUpdateWB so this should be disabled in the first place — both for the installer and the game. @Foxman is going to write more about it as he also encountered problems with other software.

Either way, as a reminder, although the game is system friendly (up to some point of course), it doesn't mean that the player should start it indiscriminately with everything loaded into the System. We always recommend disabling all programs in WBStartup that do activity in the background because they may (and most probably will) interfere with the game. The same goes for the startup-sequence and user-startup — please, make sure there's nothing there that could make the game suffer ;)

And for all who read this post, if the game is not stable on your computer, please, make sure all of the above has been applied.

Always be careful in using 3rd party non-standard tools...

Hi Piotr,

also wanted to thank you for this amazing game!
Currently I'm playing on A1200+Icedrake+Coffin61, booted without SS, executed network-startup(roadshow) and started by CLI with execute aquabyss. So far 3 hours gameplay without any trouble. After 3h first time "fail...20... aqb.." or something else shot me out back on surface. Nothing to mention though.

I'm glad to hear about it and that you like the game too! Nice to see you online as well :)
Very good idea with the no SS startup. I also had to do it with one of my testing machines with "just" 8 MB of Fast RAM. But it works and the game is free from other programs working in the background.
