Aquabyss starting problems

I have problem both of my 68060 / AGA machines Apollo / Blizzard.

Boot floppy just reset both machines.

Then I downloaded archive and extracted it.

Following with both of My AGA machines.

first I noticed that I need to add stack to icon. Normal 4kb stack is not enough.

After that from icon I got just black screen.

Started without a startup-sequence, wrote ID and Key and then it asked to remove "AUtoUpdateWb" from WBStartup. Did that.

After that game seems to start OK from OS. Started game again and I could select language. Few second and it quit back to OS, with message "Back to surface"

SnoopDos last message is AQB:sfx/Aquabyss - Mainthem READ FAIL, all the other reads are OK

With CDTV 68020/10,5mb ram I could start from boot floppy, but it does have only 1mb chip and not so fast NIC PlipBox.

I think it is because of memory - when there is not enough memory, it will not load the main music theme. Minimum requirements is 2MB chip and 8MB fast. I have 1,97MB after boot in WB and the game runs ok.

What are your configurations for your other machines?

Both AGA machines has a RTG/P96, so all the chip ram is available on OS.

Both mahcines has a 64mb fast ram.

If I start it now without a startup-sequence, it says something like "aqb failed returncode 20"

Hi Utri.

"aqb failed returncode 20"
It happens when the online update was interrupted. Go to the game directory and delete aqb file and rename aqb.old to aqb.
If it isn't due to the interrupted online update then another possibility is the system configuration. The best way to check if the game starts without a problem is to boot without startup-sequence and run the game from the shell.
How to do it
Set aquabyss file attributes to script and run from shell or without setting it type:
execute aquabyss (in both cases you must be in the game directory).

First of all, thank you for this amazing game! It really is the first AAA title for our beloved Amiga in decades, what a passionate work!
Hope remaining bugs and issues, especially with commodities and OS system patches on expanded Amigas/Vampires can be fixed soon, so you can concentrate on expanding the game.

Now to this issue: Naming of .mod files in sfx folder is wrong ("_" instead of <space>). Game doesn't check and tries to open file that does not exist. Rename the files and it'll work.

It crashed on V4 later for me when trying to save. Guess the save patch from Amiga37 didn't make it to the archive already. Can't start from WB because of other issues.

Sorry I wasn't clear, I did boot without a startup-sequence, that is how I got that error message "aqb failed returncode 20".

Starting from icon on OS just gives return surface message.

OK, this changes the thing. That would be the first case where the game doesn't start without s-s. Even on Vampire cards and problematic Coffin systems, they managed to start the game that way. The latest version (released on the server yesterday at night) will be available in the store so you may want to test this out. I will send quick info here when it's done.

EDIT: The latest version (0.92.62) is also available in the store.

@utri007 let us know if the new version starts on your config.

I'm glad it works. But I do not recommend putting back AutoUpdateWB. I have no idea how this hack/tool works. Restoring it may cause unpredicted problems in the game (assuming it even starts with it enabled).
