Yes but keep in mind that while changing the 5 V line in that Meanwhile you're changing 12 V as well. So it's advisable to measure both lines to make sure the other one doesn't exceed the nominal value.

Regardless of the power supply you have, there is a simple mod that can increase the 5 V line a bit by shortening the power cable.
